Alta Marfa

A Vineyard and Winery Estate in the Davis Mountains of West Texas.

12. Family Visit!

My parents recently made it out to the Davis Mountains for the first time and were a huge help putting in the first 5 (of 15) concrete footings for the tent platform. My parents have been extremely supportive throughout my life and that has not changed a bit since I started the Alta Marfa project. My brother and his girlfriend also made the trip so we had five workers for the weekend.

The fastest concrete mixers in the west!
Here is the first line of footings. 18 inch deep by 12 inch diameter concrete footings will support the posts for the tent platform. Digging these five holse was quite a bit of work because of how rocky the soil is.

Eilis built a path from where the vineyard will be up to where the tent will be. Little by little things are starting to transform.
